Above and beyond! My one disappointment is that we did not build in an extra day just to spend enjoying the hotel property itself - each day was mostly taken up with outings but the hotel has several biking and hiking trails, a pond area down the hill where giant tortoises roam and a beautiful pool area. My husband wanted to watch a football game one evening and could not stream to his ipad so the front desk staff rigged up a monitor so he could watch it in the lobby. The incredibly helpful and friendly staff - Angelica, Matteo, Daisy, Heidy, Jose, Giovanni and so many more. A shout-out to Norman at the hotel who was professional, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the islands too. He was flexible about timing and scheduling and could not have been more accommodating. He spotted all sorts of animals and plants and could tell us everything there is to know. Our guide, Mario, was excellent - knowledgeable and sharp eyed. Each evening we returned to the hotel exhilarated with the wildlife we had seen and the snorkelling and adventuring. Chef prepared breakfasts and lunches on board which were casual and excellent. Beautifully appointed - each of us had a comfortable day cabin in which to change, shower, nap (which we didn't because we didn't want to miss a single thing!). A highlight was the "Vision", the yacht which is owned by Pikaia and on which we traveled to other islands during our stay. Food is excellent - modern, sophisticated dinners with choices. Subtle nods to Darwin and the history of the islands are scattered throughout the property via the artwork which is definitely worth paying attention to. Beautiful artwork in the common spaces and a very comfortable and luxurious reading lounge where we could also watch the David Attenborough documentary on the Galapagos Islands in the evenings. Architecturally stunning and incredibly comfortable and chic. We spent 4 nights at Pikaia Lodge and we can't wait to return! The hotel itself is beautiful, located in the highlands with a view of the coastline.
